Today, member of Burkina Faso parliament, Oumaru Dicko, and deputy mayor of Djibo were attacked and later executed in Sahel's region of Burkina Faso.
The vehicle of Mr. Dicko was hit by an improvised explosive device causing the crash and killing two passengers. In the aftermath of the attack, passengers from the trailing bus have tried to help the member of the Parliament and got him out of the car.
However, gunmen took Mr. Dicko and another surviving passenger and later executed them.
No military groups have taken responsibility for the attack.
On the international stage, France, European Union, ECOWAS, and West African bloc have committed more troops to the Sahel region to fight insurgents after the death of the member of the Parliament.
Accordng to the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project in the span of the year, Burkina Faso's death toll in Sahel equals to approximately 1700 people.
